According to the 4th African IPCC assessment report, Africa will be wort hit by the effects of climate change in which Nigeria is a part of. Also according to Nigerian meteorological agency extreme dryness from heat wave was experienced in may to July of 2016 and would be hotter in 2017 also dry spells and off season rains to increase in 2017. temperatures climbing to as high as 40 degrees Celsius. this erratic temperature changes are noticeable in our agricultural sector which contributes come percentage of our c=gross national product, this also leads to unemployment in the agricultural sector, low food supply and high death rates other effects include; flooding, erosion , sea level rise of up to 60 feet in the next twenty to fifty years, rise in disease such as malaria, polio, river blindness etc personally i have experience high temperature change, shortage of water and increase in air pollution from traffic 3)which are the measures you would propose? because the city i live in was planned without much knowledge of climate change(created 1967) i would propose subtle changes that would not completely deter the way of life of the people so as to ease and educate them on a more healthy and sustainable way of life. this would include a. the teaching and imploring of waste separation into recyclable and non recyclable waste disposal. b. use of perm able building and road construction materials for new developments such as roads, bridges, houses etc c. making sure that old policies set up such as that set up in 2006 by Mr Donald Duke are implemented and enforced on lumbering companies and individuals. 4)is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? a. a policy was set up in 2006 by Mr Donal Duke the then governor of Cross River State to stop deforestation which states that for every tree you cut 10 more have to be planted. b. presently in 2016 the governor of Cross river State Mr Ben Ayade introduced a green policy to combat climate change. he did this by setting up the first ever ministry of climate change in Nigeria under which a green police enforcers are made to teach people about sanitation and the need to guard the vast forest. he also made "climate change" the theme of the annual carnival held in December.
