FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

1. There is a long road that looks like a small urban freeway. The picture was taken from a pedestrian bridge near the National University of Colombia (which is located actually in the right side of the picture). It is not seen any congestion, because it is not a rush hour. There is a bus stop in the centre of the picture, and we can see some information in vertical signposting, but no horizontal signposting. 2. The first information that can be obtained of the picture is the lack of horizontal signposting in the street, which can mean that there is no advanced development in road safety. The second one is the lack of traffic lights in an extensive section of the road, which is in fact urban. That can show that perhaps this is a city where the pedestrian mobility isn’t relevant. 3. About these pictures, one can try to analyse how walkable is a city or how safe are the pedestrian when they try to cross some streets. Having a complete study about that and knowing what the optimal distance between pedestrian junctions is, we can design a more liveable city for them.
