STOCK & FLOW 1) Tourist 2) People 3) Sand 1) During the high season the number of tourist arriving to Cancun increases (FLOW). The hotels are full and the statistics show a high occupation level (STOCK). 2) Jobs offers are high when hotels are full thus many people migrate to Cancun looking for work (FLOW). All working positions at different levels are taken (STOCK). During low season the number the number of jobs in the hotel zone decreases thus people leave the city (FLOW). The personnel are less (STOCK). As mention before the FLOW & STOCK increases during the high season. 3) Ocean tides are an important factor to beach formation. During this process sand is deposited (FLOW) and sandy beaches (STOCK) are made. When developing an area it is important to study the natural process of the zone. Dunes on the beach stop the wave movement and this helps the deposit of sand to increase or maintain the beach. In Cancun this process was not taken into consideration and hotels were built in front of the dunes and the result is a loss of sand and reduction of beach size. Sand moves into the ocean (FLOW) and the beautiful sandy beaches (STOCK) have to be restored mechanically since the natural process was obstructed.
