Cancún is a tourist resort located in south east Mexico in the Peninsula de Yucatan. Tourists from all over the world come to enjoy the magnificent weather and the ocean. The buildings in this area are part of the globalized construction since many of the materials come, just like the tourist, from many parts of the world. Talking to an architect he told me many interesting things about the construction you see in the photograph. Steel.- 80%, of Grade 42 steel, is Mexican and comes from the states of Puebla and Nuevo Leon. When they need more resistant steel, Grade 52, it is imported from Houston, Tx. USA. Grey Marble. - The one we see comes from the state of Puebla, Mexico. Beige tile. - It is imported from Spain and Italy. In Mexico it is produce in the state of Chihuahua. It is interesting to know that in many occasions all these products are produce in China by the “maquila sector”. Aluminium. - Is produced in Mexico. Glass.- Here it is another interesting story. There is a glass called Low-e that it is low in energetic emissions. It was imported from the USA where it was invented and now it is being produced in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A/C equipment. - Most of them imported from USA.
