"How do you like it here?" - My idea for Citizen Design Science mobile app. Nowadays, people love to rate everything. They rate movies, books, restaurants, sightseeing highlights, videos on You Tube. It is kind of new habit to leave a thumb up or down, optionally also a comment. I would like to use this habit to get information about perception of places and to create (or support) local community. This app can work as neighbourhoods watch - people can check where are nice location, and where are places to probably avoid. Users can rate places themselves - choosing one of five emoticons that represent their feelings about the place, then, optionally, also leave a comment precising what is good/wrong about the location, i.e. "I hete going this way by night!" Users can also add their own places ("pins") to the map, which everybody can rate. To make the app more engaging I would give the possibility to create "groups" (i.e. "citizens of Sunny street", "football players") and, of course, every emotion and comment can be shared in social media like facebook, twitter, google+ etc. As a result we get a map with emotions of places of certain area. We get information about places that need to be changed in a district. It would be a crucial guide to local planning. In the second step I would organize a meeting with citizens of neighbourhood and analyse the data and possible plans for the district. This meeting should be broadcastet live online via app. People would feel that government and urban planners take their interests into consideration, and urban planners would actually know what are citizens problems. The second result is connecting people from the same location via Internet. Nowadays people do not have close relations in their neighbours, often they do not even recognize them. This app could create som social connections with people living in the same area.
