FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 3: "Factors of Livability"

based on my own experience and judgment, these are the most liveable cities I've experienced: 1. Florence, Italy 2. Bruges, Belgium 3. Cape Town, south Africa 4. Alexanfria, VA, USA (the photo) 5. Aswan, Egypt I think the five characteristics that according to my opinion make a city liveable are: 1. Walk-ability 2. Air quality 3. public transit 4. noise level 5. public open spaces Regarding my own city (Dubai, UAE), in terms of the five characteristics that I listed above. Propose how your city should/could be transformed in relation to these characteristics in order to be more sustainable. 1. Walk-ability: there are very limited places in Dubai where you can walk, either for work, for shopping or for sport, roads should be redesigned to be more pedestrian-friendly. 2. Air quality: Dubai is a very hot city and that's natural, most artificial sources of heat are already wel managed. 3. public transit: it's a huge city so public transport doesn't cover the majority of places, needs more expansion. 4. noise level: mainly from motor vehicles on the express ways penetrating the city and the airport that's located inside the urban center. 5. public open spaces: Dubai has some parks but lacks open urban spaces due to the extreme temperature.
