1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? The dominant fossil fuels used in Brazil are from national oil production and imported oil, corresponding to 140.9Mtoe. Other sources are from Imported Oil, Oil production, Coal and Gas, that together sums 77,9Mtoe. 2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? (e.g. transport, industry, non-energy use etc.) They are mainly directed to transport usage, in total 71 Mtoe of fossiel fuels are used. From that total, 80% are from Oil products. The second main user is the Industry, with 29,5Mtoe. In Industry, the main source of energy are from Biofuels (42%) and Electricity (22%). Nonetheless, there is still significant contribution from non renewable sources as Oil products (16%), Natural Gas (11%) and Coal (9%)/ 3. It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. As a large country with high hidropower, the main source for electricity production is from a renewable source. However, the urbanization of Brazilian cities heavily invested in the use of vehicles fueled by non renewable sources. Transportation is the principal consumer of fossiel fuels in Brazil, so policies to improve an environmental friendly source of energy would be encourage the usage of clean transport modes, such as bicycle and walking. Also improve public transportation with mass system fueled by more sustainable sources, as electricity.
