1. What are the dominant fossil fuels used in your country? Use www.iea.org/sankey to discover it (Hint: e aware of the flow of the energy in the Sankey diagram. Sometimes a part of the production of energy goes to the export of a country. Exported energy won't be consumed by your country itself). Oil products. 2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country? (e.g. transport, industry, non-energy use etc.) Transport. 3. It is your task to create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country. How would you do that? Think of how you can improve the sources and the consumption of energy. First and foremost I would try and offer large incentives to automobile companies designing either a) more fuel efficient vehicles, or b) cost-effective electric cars, as these tend to be expensive and difficult for the 'layman' to purchase. Second, encouraging the public to utilize buses where possible, rather than continue to use needless personal transport. Ideally one would also try and limit the amount of commercial flights, though this may be even more difficult to implement, and inspire distrust in people we would want to be involved in the movement to reduce the consumption of oil products in my country. In certain areas, offering more job opportunities closer to where people live would also help decrease the amount of transportation. I know that I personally have to do quite a bit of commuting in order to get to my workplace, and someplace closer to home would be more environmentally friendly.
