Here in Saudi we have electricity water communication and almost every service provided underground usually under asphalt streets. The problem with underground electricity for example is that if any work is needed they have to dig it up close the work area until the work is done and then resurface and repave the street. Street work is a constant annoyance to everyone that lives in Riyadh. The perfect solution for this problem in my opinion is to have a network of service ducts underground that way they would never need to dig up anything. Anyways if it was on wooden poles it would be much better than now and I think even though it might look uglier but it will definitely increase livability.
