Question 1 1 London 2 Amsterdam 3 Berlin 4 Paris 5 Munich Question 2 My definition of livable city is related to an idea from Enrique Peñalosa: “Good cities are cities where the rich take public transport, not where the poor have cars”. The best cities are the ones where the even people with the lowest income have access to the same opportunities to prosper as the rich, where people feel motivated, where people feel that life is not complicated and where resources are efficiently used. Education: Every one should have the opportunity to become whatever they want. Good and accessible education produces a lot of value for the other important characteristics to exist. Innovation: A city with high innovation in the private and public sector creates a lot of value and jobs. Also people working in these projects feel inspired and happy. Walkability of the city (How easy and comfortable a person can do daily live activities near its house just by walking): People love to walk no matter the age, gender or social group. Also this creates a uncomplicated lifestyle and easy access to sports and entertainment. Energy efficient consumption in the city: Cities that use energy efficiently have low contamination and also produce it cheaply to increase productivity. Mobility: People can transport themselves easily, fast and cheaply. Question 3 Education: My city has a very bad education system. The schools with good traditional education are expensive and only a small percentage of the population go to those schools. To solve this problem I would create high quality schools and universities with very cheap tuition. The current mayor Enrique Peñalosa is developing the idea that I propose very successfully but focused in primary schools and high schools. Innovation: Innovation in my city is very small. There are some startups doing innovation but they are not very revolutionary. To revitalize innovation I would create venture capital funds to support startups. Also I would create special schools that teach tech and entrepreneurship and to reclute the good students in startups that the teachers lead. Walkability of the city: Few regions of the city are walkable. People don't like to walk in many parts of the city because of the lack of security and the lack of high quality parks and sidewalks. It is hard get around the city just walking and taking public transport. To solve this problem I would transform a country club in the middle of the city and turn it into a great public park. Also I would try to create beautiful main streets were people would like to be. Energy efficient consumption in the city and Mobility: There are too many cars in the city and the going around the city takes too much time and therefore energy. I would continue to develop the current public transport system and restrict the use of cars so 95% of the people in the city use public transport.
