City Livability score Customized livability score Change New York 62 81 +19 Nashville 53 44 -9 Detroit 47 56 +9 I consider the quality of neighbourhood one of the most important factors that describe livability. Neighbourhood is the area in which people spend most of their free and family time, it should be walkable, nice, organized, with access to variety of facilities. After customizing the term Neighbourhood at Livability Index into a higher importance The scores of New York and Detroit went up and Nashville went down. Detroit and Nashville are comparable in population and size, they are both originated in 18th century, so they should have similar scores. Surprisingly, it appeared that Detroit has more diversed, accessible and safer neighbourhoods. However, considering all 7 factors, Nashville gets higher total score. In the case of New York, neighbourhood factor turned out to be one of the most important for ovearall rating. Neighbourhood rate is 19 points higher than total score.
