FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

This is a small section of the downtown district of Novato, CA. VISIBLE INFORMATION 1) Low rooflines, low-density development, high ratio of automobiles to pedestrians, hill visible in the distance; 2) Well-developed infrastructure: Pavement, sidewalks (with handicapped access), street signage, absence of overhead power/utility wires, post box, garbage can, street lights provided; 3) Geographically in the mid-latitudes: deciduous trees have shed their leaves, conifers present. 4) Main street is named Grant Avenue (street sign) 5) Businesses include a locally owned (non-chain) "Authentic Mexican Cuisine" restaurant, locally owned/upscale spa (behind umbrellas), locally owned/upscale bakery, a Charles Schwab brokerage office, a BancONE branch, downtown medical/dental offices. INVISIBLE INFORMATION From item #1, we can surmise that this is a suburban town, and probably not too close to the major metropolitan area (otherwise real estate prices would drive toward higher density development). From item #2, it is reasonable to assume that this is a modestly prosperous and reasonably well run town. From item #3, there is not a great deal to deduce except that this town is located in that large section of America that is neither desert nor swamp not frozen mountain peaks. From item #4, we can conclude that this town is located outside the old Confederacy (Northern, Midwestern, or Western) and probably traces its development to the early post-Civil War era. From item #5, a reasonable conclusion is that this town is reasonably prosperous, has some (if not a great deal) of diversity, and has at least some affinity for its town center. VISIBLE FROM INVISIBLE From items #1 and #5, we see a relatively large number of automobiles, plus extensive provisions for accessing the downtown, including street parking directly in front of businesses. Note: I'm not sure I understood this assignment clearly, but for what it's worth, this is what I have to submit.
