The Gran Costanera Center, in Santiago, Chile, has a 50.000m² curtain wall which glazing was imported from China, because there wasn't any company in South America able to attend this demand (source: https://en.wikiarquitectura.com/index.php/Gran_Torre_Santiago_-_Gran_Costanera_Tower). By the way, China is the world's top exporter of building materials (source: http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/sitc/6624/) and the top import origin in Latin America's countries as Chile (source: http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/chl/) and my home country Brazil (source: http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/bra/), which shows how globalized economy in building construction connects countries so far away. At the same time, it shows the Latin America’s need for more sustainable building construction systems, which not depend that much on other countries technologies.
