Alvaro Andres Pinzon Cortes Bogota, Colombia The building in the background shows the typical architecture of a modern residential building in Bogota, Colombia. This building uses reinforced concrete with steel and brick. The concrete is produced locally in the Colombia, but it is very likely that the steel could be imported because 2/3 of Colombia's internal demand is supplied by importation (Portafolio, 2011). On the other hand, the bricks are produced locally in Colombia. The negative aspect of bricks is that its production process is very polluting. Apart from steel there are many materials that are imported such as wood floors and marble. In conclusion, Bogota's construction is very globalized and depends heavily on importation.
