FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2016-12-18 by Paloma Geovanna Souza Moreira
This photo was taken in 12/18/2016, in Belém, in the Pará state, at the north of Brazil. The photo shows a comercial building visible from my window. From the left to the right side: We see a Pet Shop and the entrace of it's parking space in the underground; we see the big comercial building and some of the claimed spaces names as TAM Viagens (An Airline), Allianz (An insurance company) and Bradesco (A bank Branch). Part of the building is a hotel and, beyond that, they offer a lot of diferente services. At the right corner of the photo, we can read the name Sansei, which is a pretty popular sushi bar. "Invisible" Information 1: The photo was taken at a time usually busy, but taking into account that we are on vacation in Brazil and that Belém has a great opportunity to be a tourist town, it's strange to see these streets so calm. "Invisible" Information 2: We can see that there's no people walking in the street, and that some of the spaces are closed. In the holidays, the security - unfortunately - decreases greatly in this area, and most places just open for a few hours, or don't open at all. I'll take the first "Invisible" Information for this analyze. The calm streets in a city like this can mean that there's not much people interested in coming to Belém. It can also mean that the government isn't making a good job in taking advantage of the Strong points of this city, which is the host for one of the greatest religious celebrations, the Círio, and has some very unique culinary and buildings made on the time of the colonization. This information can be used in the planning of a Future City because this space can turn to be very useful and bring more wealth to the country and the state. The extra Money could help to face difficult times like the crisis that Brazil is currently fighting against.
