Photo was taken of commercial buildings in Melbourne CBD. At the back - common construction of high rise buildings with steel, concrete and glass. Top the side - more traditional construction with concrete and steel. In the front - timber construction which is not traditional to Australia. Yes you do find some timber construction, mainly in house frames and smaller buildings, but not larger commercial buildings. Australia do produce timber, but again more for smaller construction. Timber also gets imported from mainly North America, Europe and Asia. This is also reflected in the demographics of Melbourne - a very cosmopolitan and very diverse cultural makeup.
