1 - Livable cities: Auckland – New Zealand Zurich – Switzerland Munich – Germany Amsterdam - Netherlands Tokyo - Japan Cities that I have visited, all in Brazil: Curitiba Florianópolis Jaraguá do Sul Pomerode Brasília 2 - Safety Education/ Health Quality of public / green space Avalability of jobs Public transport / Infrastructure 3 - Jaraguá do Sul: Safety (Fair): marginality stands out in areas peripheral to the urban center and more distant neighborhoods. Therefore a better use and land occupation could solve part of the safety problem. Education/ health (Fair): although most of the children and teens are studying, there's still quality missing from the education, especially in the public institutions. Jaraguá has several private schools that offer higher quality education, but the general population doesn't have access to that. The same happens in the health department. We have really good hospitals in the city, however they lack good treatment to low income classes. Quality of public / green space (poor): The city only has one green area as a park and there are few plazas and public spaces of quality. In most of the urbanized area there are no green areas with social role or even environmental protection. Vegetation was removed for the construction of residences and industries. Availability of jobs (Good): There is a lot of job offers in the city, specially in the industrial sector due to the installation of many low and medium sized factories. Public transport / Infrastructure (Very poor): The public transportation is very precarious, being made mostly of buses. Although it's a medium-sized city, there are daily peak hours of traffic jams, due to the precariousness of the public transportation and the lack of alternatives, such as bike paths and other transport modes that induce the abusive use of private vehicles. Offering alternatives, like implementing safe bike paths or even shared with vehicles could improve this aspect of the city.
