Jaraguá do Sul - Brazil Food – Big quantities of food enter the city to feed the almost 180.000 citizens. Inside the city and over its rural area it's being produced in greater proportion rice, banana but there's still vegetable production such as cucumber, lettuce, fruits like strawberries and even fish and swine. However many products still come from the outside. Analyzing the productions capacity, the amount of fertile lands and the favorable climate in the city and its surroundings, the food production could be doubled without the need to import food from other states and/or cities, reducing the dependency of others and the unsustainable methods to transport food to Jaraguá do Sul. People – Due to the strong industrial sector, many people end up immigrating to the city, although there are several problems regarding the land occupation. One of them is related to the occupation of places without adequate infrastructure and too far from the urban center and working places. This creates problems with mobility and quality of life for these people. Using simulations and observing the flow of people entering the city, it could be proposed new occupation areas, with lower cost. Water – The city is self sufficient in water. We have three rivers that supply water and a high rate of rains. The storage of rain water could contribute a lot to the city's consumption and also preserves our rivers.
