FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

The picture here looks out onto an expanse of Missouri farmland. 1. Below the deck seen is the Katy trail, once a train track but converted in the National Rails-Trails movement. a. This is an example of a local community, our mayor a key factor in the this, that has taken initiative to transform what would otherwise be useless infrastructure into recreational or natural property. This leads to a healthier dynamic community and prevents further lands to be exploited for human benefit. It is important when looking to design our future cities that we see this as an example in order to recycle relics of historical significance into highly valuable public property which the whole of our communities may be able to benefit from. 2. We can also pick out from the farmland here the importance of healthy rivers which sustain the populations in our cities. In the distance is the Missouri River, which spans from Montana in NW United States all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. Whatever pollutants individual communities add to rivers will be through throughout numerous communities and farmlands which rely on them as irrigation sources.
