The photo is the American River where gold was discovered there in 1849. The water, the salmon and the wild duck/geese come and go every year. During the wet season of December to March, the snow on the Sierra mountain accumulate. During the spring and summer, the water from the melting snow came down to the river. In the fall, wild duck and geese came to the water from cold places, and in the winter, salmon run lasted about six weeks. It is interesting about the salmon since the returning salmon all die after spawning. But the young salmon will go back to the ocean and then return again when they are in the mature age of 3-5 years.
