I am currently living between Eindhoven and Amsterdam. In any of these two cities I can prove data about UHI. We know that 2016 has been so far one of the hotter year in Europe. And we really felt It in the Netherlands. Since this summer has been so warm many buildings had heat issue. In the last years in the Netherlands the use of big windows become a trend. Most of the new buildings have big glass facades. With the warm of this summer these buildings got very very hot, almost unliveable. What I would propose as a measurement for provide more livable space is to limit the amount of glass. Probably summer will get warmer these buildings will even more warm.
