A dozen years ago, the province decided that it wanted to encourage energy conservation and so it began a program that encouraged individuals in the community to buy solar panels. The aim of the program was that individuals in the community would collect electricity through their solar panels, store it and sell it back to the province for a guaranteed rate. Soon more and more citizens signed up for the program and then there was a surplus of electricity and rates began to plummet. Now the rates paid in these guaranteed contracts are worth more than the rates being paid at large and so tax payers monies are being used to fulfill these contractual obligations – and are the opposite of a cost saving strategy. http://business.financialpost.com/fp-comment/blame-solar-for-sky-high-ontario-power-bills As a result, I noticed that along one of the main streets that I drive everyday, that instead of burying telephone poles when new road construction is occurring, the poles are growing taller. In the attached picture you can see the poles have a new section added to them that are probably 8 to 10 feet higher than they were a few years ago. It is unsightly, but helps to transport the abundant electricity that the province needs to use. Strange indeed. ![enter image description here][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14333530786530607.jpg [2]: http://
