![enter image description here][1] In the forefront, you see a sign for St. Gertrude's. This is a facility that has long-term housing for elderly in "assisted-living." Meals are provided, though you may prepare your own in your private apartment if you like. They also have rehabilitation areas, should you need to recover after a fall. Then they have areas for higher-need patients, including those requiring 24-hour nurse supervision. In the background on the left, another sign is visible. It is for the hospital in the same complex as the elder-care facility. The red bar at the top notes the emergency room. This complex shows a blending of infrastructures to reflect the changing needs of the population. The hospital's proximity has allowed for another elderly home a few blocks away, just a couple minutes by ambulance if the need arises. Without the hospital, neither facility would probably exist at its present location. [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14334455382129261.jpg
