The north-west part of Norway is situated in the snowy highlands. Although there are roads across them that connect the mountain towns with the rest of the country, in winter it is impossible to pass them because of the huge amounts of snow. People living in larger towns can choose to travel (longer) via highways along the coast, but some distant villages rely only on ferries. In summer it is possible to clear the mountain roads, thus creating kilometers-long and meters-high walls of snow (see pic). This is an illustration of a way the roads blocked by snow impact the lives of the people living in the north-west of Norway. The photograph can also be an illustration of how the presence of the road changes the summer landscape of Norwegian highlands. [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14342303876622529.jpg
