Its impact on citizens life is visible in the photo. Communication system in Szczecin connects two sides of the city, separated by Odra river. Thus, bridges play a great role in the city's transportation infrastructure. Unfortunately, there are only three bridges to discharge the traffic and they are the only possible ways to get on the other side of the city. When one bridge is closed, obstacles with transportation infrastructure occure. It is especially problematic in areas (like Szczecin), where cities are growing fast, and exceeding number of people move to suburbs. Also, as visible in the photo, it can be a strait for a health infrastructure. The ambulance needs a lot more time to get through the traffic jam, especially when it is on the bridge. I'm sure I don't have to enumerate consequences. It is really hard to make city less dependent on infrastructure. This require time, lots of money and effort. But there are small actions that can be taken by citizens. As you can see on the left side of the photo, motorcycle or bicycle takes a lot less space than cars. It is thus justified to encourage people to take this opportunity, and make a small step toward more sustainable city.
