[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14343559404459388.jpg We can see on this picture an electrical substation on a main street of Moscow, in an area rather well maintained were efforts have been deployed to minimize the visual impact of energy infrastructure. But some elements seem to be difficult to avoid such as poles for providing tramway with electricity, as well as occasional substations. This substation has obviously not been part of the original design of this park/street and has a very basic industrial design which is esthetically at the opposite of the historical buildings around and of the park design. Nevertheless this element is discreet and can be easily forgotten. Which leads me to think that as ugly as the electrical infrastructure is, it can be present in the city in small visible quantities without undermining the estheticism and livability of the area.
