The Central–Mid-Levels escalator and walkway system in Hong Kong is the most important transportation infrastructure which links Queen's Road Central in Central with Conduit Road in the Mid-Levels, and is also the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. It is over 800 metres in distance and elevates over 135 meters vertically. Constructed for shortening the commuting time between the Central and the Mid-Levels, the total travel time of the escalator is about 20 minutes, while it can be several miles’ distance if travel by car on the zigzag roads.
