------------------------------------------- 1. Education 2. Political Stability 3. Health Care 4. Safety 5. Transportation Why do we live where we live? --------------------------------- Now I am living in Oruro, Bolivia. Why? Because of my social project with the energy of solar power. Reasons for living here beside the job (1. Job Opportunities) are also: 2. Climate (the city takes place on an altitude about 3.800m) 3. Environment (the altiplano is very great!) 4. Safety (although Bolivia is the poorest country of South America, you feel save) 5. Political Stability (sure, the president Evo Morales might be a very interesting person, but the political system works - more or less) ![You can see the blue sky and the altiplano at an altitude of 3.800m (Climate and Environment)][1] ![The park in the centre of the city - Plaza Principal. (Safety)][2] ![Me during work in Complejo Solar Oruro. (Job Opportunities)][3] ![View out of my apartment.][4] I don’t want to make advertisement, but if somebody really is interested in this city, you can find more images here on my blog: [losamigos.at][5] To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Education 60 2. Political Stability 75 3. Health Care 65 4. Safety 85 5. Transportation 90 => Average livability score for Oruro = 75 What would you change? ---------------------- The first measure would be a stop of contamination through mining and the city would walk through a major change of all of these very old transportation vehicles. For example: If a bus drives in front of you, you are almost no more able to breath. And that’s terrible. Why do we move? --------------- **Innsbruck (AUT)** - Climate & Environment (mountains, snow in winter, lakes…), Housing (many traditional houses in the landscape), Health Care (a great University medicine), Education (although international tests do not always support the quality of the educational system in Austria, it is a great system I have already gone through) **Munich (GER)** - International Connectivity (awesome airport), Economy (automobile industry), Job Opportunities (transportation industry), Housing & Environment (equal to Innsbruck; a fantastic landscape with a variety of traditional houses) **San Francisco (USA)** - Economy (silicon valley), Job Opportunities (IT industry), International Connectivity (SFO & Port of San Francisco), Education (well known universities) and Infrastructure If I am honest, this decision process was not easy, because all of these cities have many more different important qualities.
