Q2: I live in Vienna, Austria. The first reason for me to move to the city was the education, as I choose a viennese university to study architecture at. ![TU Wien][1] The second very important criteria of my decision is always the infrastructure of the city as well as cultural possibilities. Vienna is a city with a rich cultural history- there are many museums, galleries, theaters including the famous Opera house- so the selection of activities is great. Also the infrastructure needs to work well is a city with almost 1,8 mio citizens. ![Infrastructure][2] Vienna offers a great choice of restaurants, shops, different festivals, concerts, cinemas etc.- so you can always find exactly what you need, like or want to do- this kind of infrastructure is in my oppinion one of the most important part of every city. I am now working on my diploma thesis with the topic of big housing urban structures in Bratislava, Slovakia. This residential areas have up to 110 000 citizens which would be in a Slovak scale already a bigger city, not just a housig estate with (almost) no more functions except housing. This single-function and the lack of infrastructure (that also equals lack of job opportunities) is the biggest problem of this urban structures- the citizens are forced to travel to the city center to work, shop, to have some cultural life etc. (that also causes more problems in the whole city)- so this exaple also illustrates the need of people to have a good infrastructure in their cities. ![Culture][3] In a bigger cities, good transportation system is crucial. Vienna is among the cities with the best transportation systems in a world. It is not necessary to use cars for the transport within a city. The transportation system is fast, very well thought through and also not expensive- if you have a one year ticket, it costs you approximately 1euro for one day- so it is accesible to everyone. ![Transportation][4] The next advantage of Vienna are the cities green areas and parks. There are many of them within the city center and also in a suburb areas, that are still very easily reachable, thanks to perfect transportation system. ![enter image description here][5] The proximity of parks to almost each point of a city allows the citizens to enjoy the greenery even during short lunch breaks during work. Q3: 1. Infrastructure 85%; 2. Education 90%; 3. Transportation 100%; 4. Culture 80%; 5. Recreation possibilities 95% city: 95% Q4: I would focus on a specific parts of the city, that may not meet the high general standards of the city- for example there may be some areas where the transportation could be improved, or there are parts, where the greenery is located only in parks and there are no trees or any other plants on the streets. I would also focus on creating more city-housing option, as the demand for city-flats is very high. Q5: Berlin, London, Munich I am always looking for similar qualities- good infrastructure is very important, therefore I´ve chose rather bigger cities. In a bigger cities, good transportation system is necessary- in all of these cities, there are variety of a means of transport- underground, city trains, buses etc. Important are also job opportunities, culture and recreational possibilities [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14446372535033097.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14446372919588861.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14446379855363639.jpg [4]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14446385355865872.jpg [5]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14446389582729368.jpg
