1. Economy 2. Job Opportunities 3. Safety 4. Education 5. Housing 2. I live in Samborondon (near Guayaquil, the biggest city in Ecuador). 1. The primary reason is probably safety. I work in the city, however, Guayaquil is notorious for its high crime rate, so I chose Samborondon as a place where I can come at the end of the day and feel safe. 2. Education also influenced my decision to come here. The best primary and secondary schools are here, and coupled with a safer environment, it makes a good choice for young families. 3. Housing was affordable when I first moved here and it was an important factor when deciding where to live. However, prices have risen too much since then; not many people in my income bracket could buy a house here nowadays. 4. Although my house is not close to my workplace, when I first moved to this area enjoyed good highway connections to my workplace so it was reasonable to move here. Today transport infrastructure is in need of a big overhaul. 5. Stores of all kinds (banks, grocery shops, government services) are very close to my home, so I also chose this location for the services available within short distances. 3. 1. Economy: 75 2. Job Opportunities: 65 3. Safety: 80 4. Education: 70 5. Housing: 65 Overall city score: 60 4. I would improve the mobility of pedestrians. The place where I live is designed with too much emphasis on cars and not very much on people. For example my house is only 5 blocks away from the main shopping area but I can’t get to it by foot because there is a dangerous highway with high traffic and no pedestrian crossing. 5. I would move to Manchester (UK), Viña del Mar (Chile) or Calgary (Canada). 1. Job opportunities 2. Relatively affordable housing 3. Diverse and dynamic environment 4. Good education opportunities 5.
