I may have mentioned in earlier writings that a vast slice of the countries GDP is generated in and closely around this hub.As you can see its brightly lit at night and this for a variety of reasons. 1. Many office blocks that work late.... 2. A fair amount of buildings that are apartments.... 3. A large centre housing shops, restaurants and cinemas ect. This creates a constant flow of people and vehicles with varying density during a 24hr period. Due to poor management at government level, we have an energy supply crisis in South Africa, so to cope when the grid straining we have a system called load shedding, that means power supply to whole systems or areas just gets shut off for up to 8 hours !! This while energy still gets supplied to neighbouring countries!! As a result, Sandton and its immediate surroundings get the same treatment at an untold expense to the country, tens of millions of dollars in a day! So if this area could become "futurised" and not only get itself off relying on energy supply from the grid, but also feed back into it that would be an incredible achievement and would potentially save the economy billions, more than it may cost to upgrade the area to become self sustainable re it's energy requirements.....
