According to me, my priority of livability criteria would be as follows: 1-Infrastructure 2-Housing 3-Sanitation standards 4-Climate 5-Safety 6-Transportation 7-Job Opportunity 8-Economy 9-Education 10-Healthcare 11-Recreation Possibilities 12-Environment 13-Political Stability 14-Culture 15-International Connectivity 2. Why do we live where we live? Name the place you live and provide 5 reasons why you live there? I live in the city of Bangalore in India Which is called as 'The Garden city' 'The Silicon city of India' 'City of Lakes' etc. Though lately, the 1000 lakes of Bangalore have reduced to 400 due to rapid urban development and amount of vegetation has also drastically reduced. I live in this city because 1. I was born here when my parents migrated here for employment. I have lived here ever since and found no reason to move elsewhere as the city lacks nothing I need. 2. The city has Amazing climate which is a cool 24 deg Celsius even during peak summer. And during Winters, it still remains a comfortable 17 deg Celsius. However, from last couple of years this is changing and summer temperatures are rising upto 35 dec Celsius and Winters upto 13 dec Celsius. 3. The city is one of the biggest metropolitans of the country and has great Education and Job opportunities and very good healthcare system. Also any commodity required for any need is easily available. 4. Good infrastructure is available. Proper accessibility, water supply, sanitation and power supply is found in almost every part of the city. 5. Bangalore is known to be a relatively safe place where crime rate is not too high, and people are friendly and accommodating. Although, there is an increase in the crime rate in the last decade, It is still a safer place to live than say, the city of Delhi. ![Bangalore has great infrastructure][1] ![Bangalore has great climate and lakes and parks][2] ![IT sector creating huge emplyment and better quality of life][3] 3.To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Bangalore fulfils all the points of my livabilty criteria. however, it lacks a little planning in criteria such Transportation and Infrastructure. Due to increased crime rate across the world, safety also is being compromised. So the city can get a score of 80 on livability scale. My place of residence- area of Mahalakshmi layout gets 95 on the scale. As it fulfils all the criteria required but infrastructure could have been much better. 4.What would you change? As the mayor of my City, I would first employ better officials and planners in the Bangalore development Authority (BDA) office which lacks planning, is corrupt and gives only temporary solutions to the problems of the city without any future planning or holistic thinking. Through BDA, I would then improve city's infrastructure such as the Roads that are now messed with thoughtless flyovers and underbridges, the poor quality of works executed in the city, and the special permission regulations for the big builders. I would provide planning regulations keeping in mind the next 30 years atleast. The new parts of this ever expanding city will be strictly planned and not be left to haphazardly develop. Corruption, that allows builders to construct illegally and encroachments of lakes will be seriously dealt with. Tree plantation drives & proper lung spaces within the city will be introduced. Bicycles will be introduced in the city where one can borrow bicycles from Bicycle points installed everywhere to travel from home to a public transit location. This will decrease the overall vehicle usages and public and mass transport systems will be encouraged. there will be pedestrian only areas created in old city areas such as Avenue road etc, where currently, the vehicular traffic is such a big nuisance and an issue. 5.Why do we move? Firstly, I would never want to leave my city as it is one of the best urban places of the country. The only reason id move to any other Urban city within the country would be if i was forced to do so. Outside my country, There are few cities that id be willing to move to. 1. Copenhagen for its amazing Infrastructure, Quality of life, Education Opportunities, Environment and Economy 2. Vancouver for the Environment, Job opportunity, Infrastructure, Culture & Economy 3. Zurich for the great Environment, Culture, Safety, Transportation& Economy [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14501664788123364.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14501665388367528.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14501668111623585.jpg
