It creates a distance/perspective and thus establishes a renowned cityscape. It provides in a filtered form potable water resources for the city. It takes treated sewage away. With its varying water levels and the interaction of wind and its reflective surface contributes to the city image. New boat public transportation routes have been laid out ovr the riveer recently to enhance connections betweeen the two embankments of the city apart from the existing bridges. It provides a movement space for fresh air in the middle of the city and balances the hot climate through its water mass. It pushes North-South transportation to the roads on the narrow band of embankments and hinders efficient road transportation through the city centre. Its riverbed changes constantly and embankments are flooded each year thus blocking traffic in the North-South direction as well as in the city centre.
