If I am staying in a house which is on hills or on seashore, away from a city, I need basic things like water, electricity etc. But when we talk about future of cities, transportation assumes a very important role. In Ahmedabad, government has provided BRTS ( Bus Rapid Transit System ) to ease traffic and to encourage people to use public transport. I see in newspaper that it has won awards and it is praised world over. I am of the opinion that in solving one problem they have created a multitude of problems. I am staying in an area which has BRTS route on three sides. People here have no traffic sense and after introduction of BRTS, no. of accidents and quarrels have increased many times. If they ( designers ) had used tools like simulation, crowdsourcing,sensors, and big data, the design of this route would have been radically different.
