The Riverside Expressway is part of the main highway that connects the southern suburbs of Brisbane to the city and on to the Norther suburbs. Often considered an "eyesore", the highway is extremely important in transporting traffic, and shows the reliance on transport infrastructure for livability. The expressway is ageing, and as well having major maintenance issues, the expressway often can not handle the amount of traffic that uses it on a daily basis due to the city's growth, and there is often congestion going in both directions and coming of the highway exits.
