As mentioned, the level of dependency and impact on infrastructure in contemporary cities is high. To example, just outside my window and even inside my own apartment, the use of buildings couldn't be possible because of the need to use several machinery to operate them in the inside and in common areas. Elevators use electricity to work, making it really hard to live in a top building apartment if you don't have an elevator. ![Metro de Santiago after electrical collapse][2] Another example in Santiago is the subterranean transport system. Actually, Metro have been suffering several problems due to electrical issues, old infrastructure and a system that have reached its capacity. Last friday, Santiago had trouble in three of the four subway lines that connect the city, creating real chaos and connectivity problems. Some people where hours waiting for a way to get to their jobs, and the ones who where able to find transport had to wait even 3 hours because of the traffic jams generated all over the city.
