[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1416671047654233.jpg Bangkok is one of the most rapidly developing cities in South East Asia. Infact, for its size, it is almost dizzying. Bangkok (with the help of Japan) has long had a skytrain and an underground railway network as well. Skyscrapers are springing up without much demand for that much new real estate. With all this infrastructure in place to cater to the future demand, one thing seems to have been forgotten. The distribution of electricity is still as primitive as can be. I have combined a few shots from different areas but all with the same problem. The overhead high voltage electric distribution system can be found in old and new buildings alike. Newer ones will have it somewhere around the back-side/service entry area. But ALL buildings are still receiving power the old-school way. The main reason for this is the water table in Bangkok is very high. You dig down 2-5 meters and you hit water. Hence trenching and laying of cables becomes extremely expensive to carry-out and maintain.
