The dam is a 635-foot (194 m) high concrete variable radius arch dam. The dam provides hydroelectricity production, water for irrigation, and recreation. This picture was taken in 2011. The water level is much much lower due to the drought in California. Much of the electricity in Sacramento is from hydro-electric. A lot of attention and thought will be needed to use these dams and still provide electricity demands. California could be A LOT more SOLAR electric but it is being stalled by big Corporate utilities like PG&E and Southern Edison. CA could profit from smaller smart grids and community based electrical grids. CA could be Net Positive with photovoltaics.
