This is how my house is connected to the electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. The electricity network requires some kind of usage measure to be able to bill me based on usage. The second box is for Internet service. Within the house, all equipment requiring internet access is wireless. I no longer have a landline, so some of the wires coming into the house are not actually used. I also no longer have a TV service, so again some of the wires previously used for cable service are not actually utilized, other than for birds to stop for a break.
