![Wind Farm Pedra do Sal ParnaĆba PiauĆ Brasil 2014][2] The future of the planet depends increasingly on the successful implementation of sustainable development agenda in the cities. A good urban planning, as well as all related infrastructure to the cities, more and more important it becomes to achieve sustainable development and avoid the problems arising from climate change. So, is highlighted initiatives such as the construction of sustainable buildings; the creation of plants with electricity generation from alternative sources such as wind, solar and biomass; the deployment of smart grid projects; the implementation of projects that improve urban mobility by means of public transport such as subways, and bike paths; the construction of water and sewage treatment plants; the implementation of projects that increase energy efficiency and water use; and conservation projects of green areas, rivers and lakes and air quality. Thus, the improvement of economic and social infrastructure of cities is becoming increasingly crucial to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thus achieve sustainable development of the planet. The progress of the various infrastructure sectors, such as transport, energy, water and sewage, telecommunications, health and education, reduces emissions of greenhouse gases, prevents saturation and revitalize urban spaces, creates better conditions for attracting new investments, and contributes for new productivity gains and to improve the quality of life of the population. Anyway, the new ideas create new perspectives and new ways of urban design and the very future of cities and therefore of human civilization.
