1 Environment, 2 Education, 3 Infrastructure, 4 Job opportunities, 5 Safety **Q2 Why do we live where we live?** Currently I am living in small coast city called Rijeka in Croatia as I am finishing my master's thesis and I am between jobs. I was born and raised in this city so one of main reason that i am living here is my family and my friends. Rijeka is strategically placed city that before the war had a major port and an industry that is now in decline. City with it's position provides you with all the options of the coastal city but also gives you the opportunity of escape in near mountains and the surrounding villages. ![aerial view of the city ][1] Aerial view of the city **Photo** : http://www.panoramio.com/photo/11915229 - (I tried to upload panoramic view that i took by myselfe, but image was too large and it was giving me an error when i tried to upload) As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, before the war Rijeka was fast growing, openminded city with the potential to become one of the largest ports in Central/Eastern Europe. The growth of the city has increased the inflow of young people and soon Rijeka with the capital city of Croatia; Zagreb has become the city with the highest artistic and music scene, and it is still holding that status today. A Lot of concerts and exhibitions are opening every week in our city. ![MMSU_Rijeka][2] MMSU Rijeka - exibition : Davor Sanvincenti (taken 9.10.2015) Because of the environment in which the city is located (sea, sea promenades, hills, mountains, forests around the city) it gives user multiple options for recreation any time of the year. ![view_gatK][3] View from one of promenades in centre of the city. Since i was born amd raised in this city i know it very well and as i travel alot and lived in two different cities in Europe and USA i still feel safest in my home town. Night walk, exploring city and friendly conversation with person you just meet on the Korzo was never a problem here. So my reasons are: Family, Enviroment, Culture, Recreation, Safety. **Q3 To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria?** If I rationally and objectively look for criteria that are important to me to stay in the city, my current place of living meets only two of them - enviromen and safety. In rest it is lacking. I would rate Rijeka with 90% for Enviroment, 50% for Education (great highschools and university, but no progam on university i am interested in, so my education if I stayed in Rijeka would be lacking), 50% for infrastructure ( infrastructures for some programs are lacking or pore developed), 30% for Job Oportunity (as the city is in stagnation, an opportunity for a new job is small) and 100% in Safety (one of the safest cities i been and lived in). In a total score i would rate Rijeka around 65% based on my Liveability Criteria. **Q4 What would you change?** While Rijeka has some good things, it also has challenges that it is not addressing. Transportation is sometimes a problem because of how city is developed. Job opportunities for young people are lacking because of stagnation of the city, infrastructure is lacking for many programs, education is moving forward only in art programs and IT sector, political scene is corrupted, not enough young and small firms are getting opportunities to develop, invest further in industry, economy and tourism, ... All that and much more needs to be changed. **Q5 Why do we move?** We move for many reasons. My next reason would be new Job position or love /family conected. 1 London, England 2 Barcelona, Spain 3 San Francisco, California Some of my reasons on the top of my list are: 1 Job opportunities, 2 International connectivity, 3 Education and culture, 4 Infrastructure, 5 Friends, 6 Quality of life, 7 Can relate to Culture and way of living.
