![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][1] The Brazilian capital is the largest city in the world built in the twentieth century. The policy of city planning, such as the location of residential buildings around expansive urban areas, the construction of the city through large avenues and dividing it into sectors, has provoked debates about the lifestyle in big cities in the twentieth century. The project divides the city into numbered blocks as well as sectors for predetermined activities such as Hotel Sector, Banking or Embaixadas.O urban plan of the capital, known as "Pilot Plan" was prepared by urban planner Lucio Costa, who taking advantage of the topography of the region, adapted it to the lake Paranoá project, conceived in 1893 by the Mission Cruls. ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][2] The city began to be planned and developed in 1956 by Lucio Costa and architect Oscar Niemeyer. Inaugurated on April 21, 1960, by then President Juscelino Kubitschek, Brasilia formally became the third capital of Brazil, after Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. Viewed from above, the main area of the city resembles an airplane or a butterfly shape. The city is commonly referred to as "Capital Federal" or "BSB" .21 The city is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its architectural and urban ensemble 22 and has the largest area of the fallen world, with 112.5 square kilometers. ![digite a descrição da imagem aqui][3] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14163602304991165.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1416360286956389.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1416360329769224.jpg
