Amsterdam 2.Copenhagen 3.Munich 4.Bilbao 5.Sydney TOP 5 CHARACTERISTICS POLLUTION: factories, transportation ... create great pollution of the cities, watching that pollution cloud over the city. This directly affects the health and the weel-being of the population, so I think it is an important factor. TRANSPORTATION: Currently, in most cities, they do not give the necessary importance to the various types of transport. American cities base their transport in private vehicles, instead European cities rely on public transportation. The important thing for me in the transport factor is the relationship between different types, and in the countries of northern Europe's relationship between bicycles, cars and public transportation is cordial and respectful. ENVIRONMENT: What I consider as a city environment, are all those elements that make a different to other city, such as its people, its culture, and nature park ... those elements that make you feel at home in a city. DISTANCE: The distances between the different elements of a city are essential to the relationship of people to their city. Currently, due to the large stores or supermarkets, many people are forced to travel miles and make use of their car to make a small purchase. There are many people like me who enjoy walking or cycling in the city and also go out to do these a small purchases but these distances make it unfeasible. WEATHER: It's funny how most of the population has adapted to its environment and the climate over the years, so a person will feel generally more comfortable to like her hometown climate. BILBAO-MY CITY POLLUTION: The pollution of Bilbao although it´s levels are not bad, is due to its location and factories on the outskirts of the city. Located in a valley, the city hosts the pollution of vehicles and the factories brought by the wind. The solution would be to conduct a study of the topography and winds for what would be the best places to build the future factories. TRANSPORTATION: Currently thanks to the subway, Bilbao´s transport within a much improved, but personally I miss that bike safe movement that occurs in the cities of northern Europe. The municipality should encourage the use of bicycles, making new bicycle lanes and making users aware that the bicycle is another way of transport. ENVIRONMENT: The environment of Bilbao, has greatly improved with the construction of the Guggenheim. Before this the city was a working class city, in which sky predominated cranes yards, but the Guggenheim was a cultural and urban revolution for the city. Furthermore Bilbao has a location surrounded by green mountains, amazing coastline and a mix of cultures due to immigration. How to improve in this regard Bilbao, would expand the area of activity just outside the city, not only to improve the tourist area but throughout the city, with plans at urban and building rehabilitation level. DISTANCE: The city of Bilbao is located in a valley so it arrived a moment when the city could not grow more, downtown buildings were no longer sufficient to accommodate the entire population, and rural places became urban centers. Within the city the distances are great, users can cross the city center on foot. CLIMATE: The climate is something that cannot be changed, but we could adapt more to it, for example through bioclimatic architecture, studying weather and knowing what systems do we need to make appropriate design of our buildings.
