FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 3: "Factors of Livability"
Uploaded on 2014-12-08 by IsabelPi
The five characteristics that make a city liveable are: 1. Deep roots like strong placing and the pride of belonging to the city. 2. Security, easy mobility and social cohesion without discrimination. 3. Link with the nature: landscape, traditions, culture and idiosyncrasy. 4. Scale, this is directly related to the sustainability of the environment, which I understand as comprising the surroundings that affect the life of the people and the society. Keep balance between buildings and open space to relate with the citizens. 5. Opportunity of self-development. Access to work, culture, sport activities, social life, amusement and services like healthy service, homes. Vitoria-Gasteiz has been “2012 European Green capital”. The city has been working more than 30 years to improve the quality of life of the neighbourhoods. Many of the characteristics said above have been applied but there is much to do left, for example renovate the old part of the city, connect the new neighbourhoods because of the crisis there are a lot of plots vacancy. And we have a challenge: to improve the energetic efficiency of the thousands of buildings built before 1980. Now we are starting to build buildings with consume of energy nearly zero. ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14180660517193887.jpeg
