![Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs][2] [1]: https://cdmsmedia.bridgepointeducation.com/MediaService/MediaService.svc/constellation/book/AUPSY101.11.1/%7Bfigures%7Dfig_6.4.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14174205019428674.jpg Looking at the pyramid, on top we find the self-actualization needs, which include : realization of one’s potential, creativity, fulfillment, authenticity, spontaneity, problem solving, acceptance, morality, expression of inner talent. On the lower levels of the meta-needs we find the aesthetic and cognitive needs. Therefore, the lifestyle of a city in relation to the meta-needs include aspects like ***education, culture, personality, identity, self-expression, creativity, inner potential fulfillment*** . This style is, of course, built on top of the necessary basic needs of the citizens, which can include things like the ***stocks and flows of the city (water, food capital, density), infrastructures, safety measures, climate patterns, natural spaces, employment opportunities*** and so on. In order to address all aspects of the Maslow’s pyramid, first of all we (as the Romanian nation) have to update or change the platform that supports the basic needs. Consensually, we have to plan more for long-term goals rather than quick-fix solutions to important problems. Secondly, we should use the existing human potential to build-up the environment where the self-actualization needs are supported to a larger extent. These steps are a combination of both national and local initiatives. However, we must not suffocate the cities with regulations and strict implementations, but let space for spontaneity and freedom. Now it is a time for holistic approaches, long-term strategies, better leadership and clearer visions.
