i. Infrastructure n. Safety p. Transportation k. Job opportunities h. Economy 2. Why do we live where we live? I live in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, in Portugal. As the “northern capital” of the country, there are more job opportunities than in my hometown so I moved for educational reasons and stayed afterwards. It’s a safe city with good infrastructures, health care, good recreational, cultural and educational offer. In all Portugal the climate is nice, Mediterranean Atlantic. Port Wine culture brings a lot of tourists to town and it makes the local economy thrive. For those reasons and a lot more, I chose to live in Porto. ![Vila Nova de Gaia seen from the other margin, Porto][1] 3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? Infrastructure: 85%, safety: 80%, Transportation: 75%, job opportunities: 70%, economy: 90%. A general livability score would be 85%. 4. What would you change? I would optimize the frequency and the routes of the Metro infrastructure, reducing the car use in the urban area, consequently reducing CO2 emissions, improving the urban environment. I would also promote the rehabilitation of the degraded areas and buildings in the city, particularly for cultural, educational and housing purposes, recuperating traditional buildings. 5. Why do we move? If I were to move from my current location I would consider: Berlin, Germany; Oslo, Norway; Athens, Greece. I value mostly the infrastructure, education, culture, job opportunities and environment, plus, I relate to the ways of living and cultures.
