a. Culture b. Environment c. Job Opportunities d. Education e. Economy **Why do we live where we live?** I live in Ponce, a city in the southern region of Puerto Rico. I was born in Ponce, and I’m actually studying architecture there. The reasons I live in Ponce are: a. Education- There are several colleges and universities offering higher education degrees including: medicine, biotechnology, law, business and architecture. The Pontifical Catholic University have the newest architecture program in the country with focus on digital technologies. ![][1] b. Culture- The city is very rich in history and culture. It have an historic downtown with 19th century Spaniard architecture. It have the second oldest theater in Puerto Rico built in 1864, Theater La Perla. The Ponce Art Museum is the largest art museum in the Caribbean and house one of the most important Pre-Raphaelite collections in the Western Hemisphere. The Ponce Carnival is one of the oldest carnivals of the Western Hemisphere, dating back to 1858. ![][2] c. Environment/Landscape- Ponce is in the southern coast of Puerto Rico, on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, but its territory reaches the Central mountain region. You can travel from the cost to the mountains in just 15min by car. This offer a lot of different landscapes scenarios and outdoor recreational activities. ![][3] d. Climate- Ponce features a tropical savannah climate. The mean annual temperature in the city is 26◦C. Our average winters are 31◦C and our summers 34◦C, basically is summer all year around. ![][4] e. Health Care- Ponce have several clinics and hospitals, including four comprehensive care hospitals, making it the city with highest concentration of medical infrastructure per inhabitant of Puerto Rico. **To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria?** a. Ponce is suffering from a really fast-growing urban sprawl affecting in very negative ways the livability of the city. **Why do we move?** In this phase of my life I want to continue my studies and develop my professional architecture career, having this in mind, education and job opportunities are my priorities and main criteria to move from Ponce a.
