1. Education 3. Housing 4. Health Care 5. Job Opportunity 6. Transportation I am currently living in Mexico because my whole life has been built here, I cannot afford living alone in another country yet, I am underage (17 years old), I love our culture, and everyday I enjoy looking at the mountains surrounding us. ![Fundidora park in Monterrey][1] ![Cerro de la Silla in Nuevo León][2] ![Huapango dancers][3] Based on all of the livability criteria mentioned on the list, I would rate Nuevo León, México with a 40. Based on my top 5 livability criteria, I would rate Nuevo Leon, Mexico, with a 50 because we might have free education (SEP), free health care (IMSS), and affordable transportation (metro, 4 pesos); but the SEP and IMSS are of low quality, trasportation in urban buses is way too expensive (12 pesos per ride), and job opportunity is low. Plus, housing is the opposite of affordable, taking in count that the minimum weekly salary is 73.04 pesos and 300,000 pesos is considered cheap for a house price. A person in Mexico gaining the minimum weekly salary would have to work 4,107 weeks, the equivalent to 79 years, to afford paying a $300,000 house; just imagine... If I were the mayor of Monterrey, a city located in Mexico, I would instantly do something to increase the quality of our education system, our teachers, and our learning materials. People in Mexico join gangs, steal, kill for money and feed themselves toxic substances because they do not like their lives and are not interested in their future so they seek for a momentary and sometimes even permanent distraction. High-quality education would eventually help them realize their true potential and passions, and they would become interested in setting goals for their future without the need for seeking a damaging distraction. Besides increasing education quality, I would seek a way to make housing more affordable so our people stop living in the streets or mediocre conditions. Also, I would make interesting conferences that would touch people's heart so they learn about the importance of our environment and start worrying about it. I would move out to Vancouver, Berlin or Helsinki because of the education, job opportunity, environment, health care, and climate.
