Infrastructure **Q2.** *Why do we live where we live?* I was used to live in Izmir, Turkey before I came to Zürich for my master studies in ETH. The five reasons for me to live in Izmir was: 1. Culture 2. Climate 3. Vibrant social and cultural life 4. Safety 5. Close to areas for outdoor activities In Zurich the reasons for me changed: 1. Environment 2. Health 3. Economy 4. Safety 5. Infrastructure **Q3.** *To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria? On a scale from 1-100 rate to what extend your place of residence fulfills your ideal livability criteria (i.e. the top-5 criteria you selected in Question 1).* For Izmir; 1. Environment 80 2. Climate 90 3. Culture 85 4. Job opportunities 40 5. Infrastructure 50 General livability score: 69 **Q4.** *What would you change?* Imagine that you were the mayor of your place of residence. Which would be the first measure you would take to improve livability? The Izmir Bay of western Turkey is one of the great natural bays of the Mediterranean Sea. The untreated domestic sewage of millions of people and wastes from industries and ships are discharged into the inner Bay of Izmir daily. This situation creates a huge negative environmental impact to the bay that make in it impossible to swim or fishing. Also you can notice easily wastes of industries and ships on the surface of the sea water. I would give the priority to install an advance sewage system with a proper treatment stations to prevent environmental pollution and starts Secondly the city is mainly connected with a street going along the bay parallel to the sea which separating the city with the seaside. I would firstly try to take the street in cructial points under the ground if is not possible than lifting the streets up so that we can have an orthogonal co:nnection to the sea side for the pedestrians. **Q5.** *Why do we move?* In this last part of the exercise we want you to name three places that you would select to move in case you decided to change place of residence. In addition, provide us with 5 qualities of these places that played important role during your decision process. Order them with the most important at the top of your list. 1.
