1. Environment 2. Culture 3. Education 4. Job Opportunities 5. Infrastructure **2. Why do we live where we live?** I'm Spanish and live in Dublin, Ireland. My reasons for living here are: 1. I have established a family here 2. Environment. Quality of public spaces taking the form of parks, squares or bridges, for example. Also the possibility of travelling within the island to extraordinary landscapes and the presence of wild nature in close proximity to the city 3. The welcoming and friendly idiosyncrasy of Irish people 4. The thriving Irish design and crafts culture and community 5. Culture. Dublin currently attracts people from different cultures and nationalities, resulting in a richer environment and a more accepting community ![Moran Park, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin][1] ![Phoenix Park, Dublin][2] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14568668715549355.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14568669275312147.jpg **3. To what extend does your own place of residence fulfill your ideal livability criteria?** 1. Environment - 80 2. Culture - 70 3. Education - 70 4. Job Opportunities - 80 5. Infrastructure - 60 Dublin - 72 **4. What would you change?** Traffic in Dublin is a problem. I would introduce measures to avoid vehicular traffic in the city centre and would encourage people to take bikes to work or public transport by improving the infrastructure. Also, Dublin is a very horizontal city. The rapid increase of immigration has resulted in a shortage of housing facilities. Rent and property in Dublin are extremely expensive and people are forced to live in 'Commuter Towns' in the outskirts. Additionally, moving within the city generally involves a long journey. Planning authorities need to reflect about the new reality of the city. High-rise buildings should start to be considered. **5. Why do we move?** If I had to live somewhere else, I would move to: Vienna, Austria Porto, Portugal San Sebastián, Spain Qualities of these places: 1. The architecture of the cities, in other words, the relationships between the organic growth of the city centres and the more planned growth of the rest of the city, creating different spaces for different purposes, the layering of the city, the materials with which the city is built, the sentiment attached to those materials and to the buildings through historical facts and literature, the people that used to inhabit their streets, the physical sensations one experiences when walking them. These are in my opinion the most important qualities in a city 2. Culture. These cities are thriving with culture and history 3. Geographically they are located in privileged areas for different reasons 4. The three of them are surrounded by an enviable nature 5. Infrastructure and connectivity are an integral part of the city
